  1. How old do I have to be to caddie?                                                                                Top of Page

In order to caddie you must 13 years old by June 1 of the current year.

      2.    Do I have to register to caddie this year?                                                                      Top of Page

Due to circumstances this year with our golf course closing early we are going to restrict the number of caddies that we allow into our caddie program.  There will be an online registration form posted under Caddie Programs in order to register for one of the orientation meetings.

     3.     Do I have to be a certain size in order to caddie?                                                      Top of Page

There are no specific size requirements in order to caddie.  Each caddie must be able to carry at least one golf bag for 18 holes while keeping up with his/her player for the entire round.

     4.     How much will I get paid?                                                                                                Top of Page

A caddies pay is based directly on his classification.  There are 5 classifications: Trainee, B, A, Honor, Evans.  New caddies will begin as a Trainee and move up classes as they demonstrate the skills necessary of each classification.  Each caddie is entitled to his/her base rate and then will generally be tipped on top of it by the player.  A caddie can expect anywhere between $25-$50 per bag per round.

     5.    How often will I get to caddie?                                                                                          Top of Page

We use a unique merit based system to do caddie assignments.   Our highest level caddies have priority when receiving caddie assignments then it is based on a first come first out basis.  There will be times where days when trainee and "B" caddies come in early and will not get out that day.    It is our goal to never have a caddie sit for more than one day in a row, so if he/she comes in the following day after he was sitting he/she will be one of the first to get out.

There are no requirements for caddies to come in a certain number days per week.  The more ambitious caddies are as far as coming in the faster the more they will get out to caddie and therefore the faster they will move up classifications.

    6.    What is the Evans Scholarship Program?                                                                    Top of Page

The Evans Scholarship Program is a scholarship program designed specifically for caddies.  It provides caddies that meet the requirements a full tuition and housing scholarship to one of the 19 universities across the nation that currently have Evans Scholars Scholarship Houses.  For more information regarding requirements and what universities support the program go to http://www.westerngolfassociation.com

    7.    What does the training process entail?                                                                          Top of Page

Each new caddie will go through a thorough training process.  The first step in the process is to attend an orientation meeting which take between 60-90 minutes.  Parents are more than welcome to attend this meeting also.  The second step is to watch a training video.  The third step is to complete two on-course training sessions.  This will allow new caddies to physical carry a golf bag and interact with a caddie trainer in order to better understand the caddie process.  The fourth step is to take a written test on all the material that has been covered in the training process.  The final step is perform a shadow loop where they will accompany a caddie and player on the golf course during a real round of golf.  This is one of the best ways to learn is to observe one of our top caddies in action.

    8.     How do I get promoted?                                                                                                    Top of Page

After certification you will start out as a trainee caddie.  After completion of 6-12 rounds you can expect to be promoted to a B Caddie.  After completion of 15-20 rounds as a B Caddie you can expect to be promoted to an A Caddie.  From an A Caddie to a Honor Caddie is based off of exceptional member ratings.  Honor Caddies show strong leadership and have the ability to help more than one golfer in a group, ability to read greens, and are willing to work a minimum of 3 times per week.

    9.     Will I get to play the golf course?                                                                                     Top of Page

Once you have reached an A Caddie status you will be allowed to golf the course before or after hours by arranging a time with the caddie master.  You will be able to golf no more than you caddie, i.e. if you caddie two times a week you could golf two times that week.  Playing the golf is a privilege that is earned through hard work and can be taken away for any misconduct while playing or caddying.
